Colorado-based River Spell brings an adventurous blend of heartfelt songwriting, deep improvisation, and genre-bending musicianship to Portland for one night only. Drawing from folk, rock, funk, psychedelic, and bluegrass traditions, the band creates immersive live performances where songs evolve in real time and no two shows are ever the same.
Formed along Colorado’s Front Range, River Spell has quickly become a rising force on the national jam scene through relentless touring and a reputation for dynamic, exploratory performances. Their music balances thoughtful songwriting with extended instrumental journeys, allowing each performance to take on a life of its own.
In just a few short years, the band has shared stages with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Railroad Earth, The Motet, Lindsay Lou, The Lil Smokies, Tea Leaf Green, Duane Betts, Holly Bowling, Jason Hann of The String Cheese Incident, Toubab Krewe, and many more. Their debut album arrived in 2024, following early momentum from their single “Bottom of the Hill,” which earned placement on Spotify’s Modern Jam Band playlist.
